Tomorrow\, June 4\, the chief prosecutor\, Hassan Jallow\, and the president of the tribunal\, Judge Dennis Byron\, will brief the UN Security Council in New York on the progress of the tribunal's genocide trials over the past six months.

In an effort to inform and mobilize the community to act on behalf of ending genocide\, Jewish World Watch will hold its third WALK FOR DARFUR - WALK TO END GENOCIDE on the morning of June 7\,2009\, Pierce College Farm Center in the San Fernando Valley.

Last year\, over 1400 individuals participated in the Walk from synagogues\, schools and communities\, and this year we anticipate at least 3\,000 walkers. The Walk covers 3 miles on city streets in the West San Fernando Valley and it offers individuals a real opportunity to stand with others in opposition to genocide. The Walk for Darfur culminates in an AWARENESS FAIR with prominent members of the community addressing the crowd\, information booths about Darfur and other human rights abuses\, a solar cooker demonstration to showcase the JWW Solar Cooker Project and refreshments.

What\: The International Association of Genocide Scholars (IAGS) presents the screening of &ldquo\;40 Years of Silence\: An Indonesian Tragedy&rdquo\; during Session 1\: &ldquo\;The New Face of Genocide in the 21st Century.&rdquo\; The feature length documentary focuses on how children deal with severe trauma caused by the death\, imprisonment and disappearance of close family members. \;

Directed by Dr. Robert Lemelson\, Anthropologist at UCLA&rsquo\;s Semel Institute of Neuroscience and edited by two-time Academy Award®\; winner Pietro Scalia (&ldquo\;JFK\,&rdquo\; &ldquo\;Black Hawk Down&rdquo\;).

The Genocide Prevention Task Force\, convened by the United States Holocaust Memorial Museum\, the United States Institute of Peace\, and the American Academy of Diplomacy and co-chaired by Madeleine Albright and William Cohen\, released Preventing Genocide\: A Blueprint for U.S. Policymakers on December 8\, 2008. The report explains why genocide and mass atrocities threaten core American values and national interests and how the U.S. government can prevent these crimes in the future.
